If you haven\u2019t got these, go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government-gateway\">Government Gateway website<\/a> and register as an individual.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever you use the app again, depending on what your handset supports, you can sign in using:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a 6-digit PIN<\/li>\n<li>fingerprint authentication<\/li>\n<li>facial recognition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"setting-up-a-personal-tax-account\"><span class=\"number\">4. <\/span>Setting up a personal tax account<\/h2>\n<p>You can use the app to set up a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/your-personal-tax-account\">personal tax account<\/a> by giving us your name, National Insurance number and date of birth.<\/p>\n<p>If we need to verify your identity, we\u2019ll ask for details such as your passport number and information about your salary.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"sign-in-to-your-help-to-save-account\"><span class=\"number\">5. <\/span>Sign in to your Help to Save account<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/get-help-savings-low-income\">Help to Save service<\/a> is a government-backed savings scheme for certain people on low incomes.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a Help to Save account, you can use the app to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>check your Help to Save account balance and bonus<\/li>\n<li>keep track of how much money you\u2019ve paid in each month<\/li>\n<li>see how much money you can still pay in before the end of each calendar month<\/li>\n<li>set regular reminders to add to your savings<\/li>\n<li>view all your payments and withdrawals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you want to do other tasks, such as pay money in, it is easy to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/sign-in-help-to-save\">sign in<\/a> to your Help to Save account using the app.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"safety-and-security\"><span class=\"number\">6. <\/span>Safety and security<\/h2>\n<p><abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr> takes cyber security very seriously &#8211; see how we are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/how-hm-revenue-and-customs-keeps-you-safe-online\/how-hm-revenue-and-customs-keeps-you-safe-online\">keeping you safe online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"help-and-support\"><span class=\"number\">7. <\/span>Help and support<\/h2>\n<p>If you have a problem with your account that you can\u2019t solve using our online resources, there is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/contact-hmrc\">other help<\/a> available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.
